ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team will head to Cabrini College for the 2016 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship game on Saturday, May 7.
The No. 2 seeded Knights defeated No. 3 Marywood 20-9 in a semifinal game on Wednesday evening.
Jordan Hopkins scored seven goals for the Knights and picked up 14 draw controls.
Diana Caicedo tallied six goals.
Kaitlyn Conrad and
Shae Risley each added three goals.
Alexa McIntyre had a goal and an assist.
Sirelle Torres and
Danni Hall each picked up five ground balls.
Becca Wallace made three saves in net.
On the season, Hopkins leads the Knights with 61 goals and 25 assists for a total of 86 points. She has played in all 17 games and won 146 draw controls.
Rebecca Dolenti has contributed 41 goals and 12 assists for a total of 53 points. Caicedo has netted 36 goals and Conrad has added 27. McIntyre leads the team in ground ball pickups with 75 and caused turnovers with 45. Wallace has made 128 saves in almost 1,020 minutes of play.
This is the fourth straight season the Knights and the Cavaliers have met in the CSAC Championship game. Neumann is looking to bring home its first title.
Cabrini handed Neumann its only conference loss of the season, 17-9. Three Knights netted a pair of goals in the game; Hopkins, Dolenti and Caicedo. Hopkins also had two assists and nine draw controls. Conrad and Risley each added a goal and an assist.
The winner receive the CSAC automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
