RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team dropped the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship game 18-10 at Cabrini College on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Hopkins scored three goals and added two assists to lead the Knights.
Rebecca Dolenti,
Shae Risley and
Alexa McIntyre each added a pair of goals.
Becca Wallace made 14 saves in net.
The first half was busy with 23 goals scored between the two teams. The Cavaliers opened the scoring by netting the first four goals.
Taylor Klever put the Knights on the board, followed by goals by Dolenti and Hopkins for a 4-3 game eight minutes in. Hopkins scored her second goal off a pass from
Nicole Barbieri for a 6-4 game.
Cabrini scored the next four goals to extend its lead to 10-4. The Knights scored three of the next four goals, McIntyre, Hopkins and Risley, to keep pace for an 11-7 game with 6:37 left in the first half. The Cavaliers then took control of the game and ended the half with five goals to take a 16-7 lead into halftime.
Risley scored to open the second half, which was much quieter than the first. McIntyre and Dolenti also found the back of the net in the second half, but the lead built up by the Cavaliers at the end of the first was enough to hold off the Knights.
Neumann (13-5) will now wait for the ECAC announcement to see if its season will continue.
