ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team defeated Cedar Crest College 12-3 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal game on Sunday afternoon.
Sarah Murray had three extra base hits in the game and knocked in four runs.
Kara Grogan had three knocks and hit in a pair.
Jackie Schneider and
Kendall Boardman each had a pair of hits.
The Falcons got on the board in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, Schneider led off with a single followed by a homerun by Murray to tie the game at two. In the third inning, Neumann had four straight hits and scored two runs to take a 4-2 lead.
Cedar Crest took advantage of an error in the fifth inning to get within one, 4-3. Neumann then capitalized on errors in the bottom of the sixth to plate eight runs and take the game 12-3.
Lauren Wilkie went 6.0 innings for the win. She allowed three runs, just one earned, and struck out three.
The win put the Knights into the CSAC championship later on Sunday afternoon.
