ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team has made a habit of playing one goal games to start the 2016 season. For the first time this season, they ended up on the wrong side of the score, dropping a 2-1 decision to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on a hot and humid Saturday afternoon.
The game did not start out as planned as the Knights conceded a goal in the seventh minute of play. Five minutes later, the Dolphins found the back of the net again to double their lead. The score would remain the same until halftime, with the Dolphins holding an 8-7 edge in shots.
The second half was a different story for Neumann, as the team came out on fire. The Knights registered five shots in the first 10 minutes, but could not get on the scoreboard. Neumann was finally rewarded in the 66
th minute as
Grace Stauffer deposited a loose ball into the back of the net. The Knights continued to pepper Mount Saint Vincent net for the remainder of the game, but they could not get the equalizer.
The Knights finished the game with a 17-9 edge in shots, including a 10-1 advantage in the second half.
Anna Attardi made four saves in net for the Knights.
Neumann (2-1) will be right back in action tomorrow as it hosts Smith College. Kick-off of set for 3:00 PM.
