IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University defeated Immaculata University 53-36 on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
AAliya Hayes continues to lead the Knights, finishing with 25 points and 21 rebounds, 12 of which were offensive boards.
Lauren Legler added 11 points.
The first quarter went back and forth with six lead changes and four tied scores. The teams were knotted at 13 after the first 10 minutes.
The Knights took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Mighty Macs 21-10. Neumann steadily built up its lead throughout the 10 minutes and a layup by Hayes with 2:19 left before halftime put the Knights up by 10, 29-19. Legler hit the last shot of the half, a three-pointer, for a 34-23 lead at the break.
Scoring was scarce in the third quarter as each team only netted six points. Immaculata hit the first basket midway through the quarter. The Knights held a 40-29 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Knights outscored the Mighty Macs in the final quarter to come away with the conference win. Neumann capped the win by scoring six of the final eight points.
Neumann (8-6, 3-2 CSAC) will host Centenary on Saturday in more CSAC action beginning at 1:00 PM.
