Women's Volleyball Wraps Up CSAC Action with Two W’s

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team swept a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) matches to wrap up conference play on Tuesday evening. The Knights defeated Cairn and Centenary both by 3-0 scores.
 
The Knights defeated the Highlanders 25-14, 25-8 and 25-8. Against the Cyclones, the scores were 24-13, 25-6 and 25-8.
 
In the first match against Cairn, Melanie Malseed hit .556 and tallied 16 kills. Rachel Cray handed out 23 assists. The team notched 18 service aces, led by Cray with six. Bridget Lozier added four service aces. Bianca Harbold had 14 digs and Cray added 12.
 
The first set started off back and forth. With Neumann holding a 12-10 advantage, the Knights rattled off five straight points and 11 of the next 12 for a 23-11 lead. A kill by Malseed sealed the first set win.
 
Neumann held the pace in the second and third sets and were all won on a kill by Malseed.
 
In the second match of the evening, Malseed added 10 more kills to her season total. Cray handed out 26 more assists. Harbold tallied a whopping 15 services aces, as the Knights finished the match with 19.
 
The Knights took a quick 12-0 lead in the second set against the Cyclones. Harbold notched four of her services aces and Malseed tallied three kills.
 
Neumann (14-20, 9-2 CSAC) will wrap up the regular season next Saturday, October 28, when it hosts DeSales and Stockton in a tri-match. Action gets underway at 11:00 AM.
