ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team wrapped up the 2017 season with a 3-2 win over Cedar Crest College on Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Kyra Washington scored her first collegiate goal in the ninth minute to put the Knights up 1-0. The Falcons scored twice in a two minute span toward the end of the half to take a 2-1 lead. With 1:05 left before halftime,
Ashley Parker scored her first collegiate goal, in her final game of her senior year. Parker has spent her career as a staple in the backfield and took full advantage of playing offense in the game, finding the back of the cage. The teams went into halftime tied at two.
Early in the second half,
Cheyenne Sovae-Beattie gathered a rebound off of a shot from Washington to put Neumann up 3-2. Cedar Crest was awarded a penalty corner in the final minute of regulation. The Knights blocked the shot to preserve the one goal lead to come away with the 3-2 win.
Lizzie Yu made eight saves in net for the win. Washington led the Knights with four shots.
Neumann finishes the season 3-13 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
