ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Manhattanville College with a 4-2 victory on Saturday afternoon in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action.
Bek Lucas led the Knights with a natural hat trick and an assist.
Julia Fair made 47 saves in net for the win.
The Valiants scored the only goal of the first period, on the power play, to take the 1-0 lead.
The Knights came out of the first intermission on fire, scoring three goals in the first 5:41 of the second period.
Katelyn Brown scored off assists from
Jackie Schneider and Lucas just 1:26 into the period. Lucas scored her first goal of the game, unassisted, at the 4:55 mark. Under a minute later, the senior netted a power play goal, off an assist from
Sammy Patrick, to put Neumann up 3-1.
Later in the period, also on the power play, Lucas netter her third goal of the game for a 4-1 Knights lead. Manhattanville would get one goal back with 2:05 left before the third period for a 4-2 score after two periods.
The Valiants outshot the Knights, but Fair made outstanding saves in net to keep Neumann in the game. The Knights went a perfect 2-for-2 on the man-advantage and held the Valiants to 1-for-4.
Neumann (4-1-1, 1-0-0 UCHC) will hit the road for two conference games at Utica next weekend. Games on Friday and Saturday are set to get underway at 2:30 PM.
