WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell at The Catholic University of America by a 65-42 score on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Nafisa Saunders was the lone Knight to hit double-figures, scoring 13 points.
Lauren Legler added eight points. The rest of the points were spread over seven players.
The teams traded baskets over the first four minutes of the contest and the Knights held a one point lead, 8-7, with 6:15 on the clock. The Cardinals then went on an 11-0 run.
Alex Fernandez broke the run with a jumper just before halftime for an 18-10 score.
Catholic scored the first six points for the second quarter. A layup by Saunders started an 11-2 for the Knights as they pulled within five, 26-21, with two minutes left before halftime. The Cardinals scored five of the final seven points of the half to take a 31-23 lead into the locker room.
The Cardinals doubled the Knights in scoring in the third quarter, 18-9, to take a 49-32 lead into the final 10 minutes. Catholic held onto the double-digit lead throughout the fourth quarter en route to the win.
Neumann (5-4) will be off until next Saturday when it wraps up the four-straight road games. The Knights will travel to Lancaster Bible for a 1:00 PM tip-off.
