ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team got back in the win column, picking up an 81-69 win at Rosemont College on Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
 
AAliya Hayes led the Knights with a double-double, 26 points and 14 rebounds. Nafisa Saunders tallied 24 points and Lauren Legler added 17 points, including five three-pointers.
 
 
Rosemont started the game with a 4-0 run but Hayes got the scoring for the Knights going with two layups and a foul shot. The Knights and Rosemont shared baskets for the rest of the quarter and Neumann held a 19-17 lead after the first 10 minutes.
 
The Knights started to build their lead in the second quarter and as Legler hit a three, Neumann increased its lead to seven, 28-21. The Ravens would get to within three before the Knights would increase their lead a couple times before the half. Legler hit another one of her three-pointers with six seconds left on the clock to give Neumann a 39-33 lead heading into halftime.
 
Saunders began the third quarter with a three-pointer to get the Knights going. Rosemont began to chip away at Neumann's lead tied the game up at 47 with 4:08 on the clock. Legler once again answered back with a three putting the Knights back in the lead. Hayes netted the final four points of the quarter to give the Knights a 58-50 lead going into the last 10 minutes of play.
 
The Knights built a double-digit lead with a basket by Shauntel Williams, which they would hold throughout the rest of regulation. Neumann's biggest lead came with 3:42 left in regulation, 76-58.
 
Neumann (15-7, 10-3 CSAC) will host on Saturday afternoon in another conference game against Cedar Crest College. Tip-off is at 1:00 PM.
