The back and forth game would continue as time ticked down in the quarter. The Knights would knot the game up with just 11 seconds left to go in the period, as Schlimme found the back of the net to send the game to the second quarter tied at 4-4.
The second stanza would be a bit more of a stalemate, with both teams struggling to find offense. Wilkes would notch the quarter's only goal midway through the period to take a 5-4 lead into the half.
Neumann wasted no time knotting the game back up in the third quarter, as Plesati scored to tie the game up at 5-5 just thirty seconds into the period. From there, Wilkes began to pull away. The Colonels would register eight goals in the quarter to head to the final frame with a 13-9 lead. Fraser did his best to keep the Knights in the game, scoring two of his team high five goals in the period, but the Knights would head to the final 15 minutes of play trailing by four.
Wilkes would continue to pull away in the final quarter, scoring the first three goals of the period to further widen their lead. Neumann made the game interesting late with three more goals from Fraser, but it was not enough as Wilkes walked away with the 16-12 win
