FREDERICK, Md. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team fell by a score of 29-8 to Hood College in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon.
Chase Fraser carried Neumann offensively with four goals, while
Alex Rucci chipped in with a pair of goals of his own.
Brendan Risley and
Antonio Gibson split time in goal, combining for nine saves in the loss.
Hood would control play from the opening faceoff, scoring 21 seconds into the contest to take the early lead. The Blazers tacked on three more tallies before Fraser answered back for Neumann to make it 4-1 at the 7:23 mark of the opening period. Unfortunately for the Knights, it would be the team's only goal of the quarter. Hood responded with four more goals to take an 8-1 lead into the second stanza.
The second quarter would start well for the Knights, as Fraser scored just 22 seconds into the quarter to make it 8-2. Much like the first frame though, Hood would take over from there. The Blazers scored eight unanswered goals to take a commanding 16-2 lead into halftime.
The Knights came out of halftime playing much better, but it was too little, too late for Neumann. Led by a pair of goals each from Fraser and Rucci, the team would score six times in the second half, but ultimately fall by a score of 29-8.
Neumann (1-3) has a few days to recover before traveling to New Wilmington, Pa. for a non-conference matchup versus Westminster College on Saturday, March 11
th. Game-time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
