PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling by a score of 5-3 to Immaculata University in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinals.
Daniel Rival did his best to keep the Knights in the match, winning at both first singles (6-0, 6-0) and first doubles with partner
Rod Bradbury (8-3).
Jordan Collins also won his match at third singles by a score of 6-2, 6-2 to remain unblemished this season in conference singles play.
Unfortunately for Neumann, the excellent performances from Rival and Collins were not enough to get past the Mighty Macs. Immaculata took home wins at both second and third doubles as well as second, fourth and fifth singles to clinch the win.
Billy Swontek led his match in sixth singles for the Knights, but with Immaculata picking up its fifth win, the match was left unfinished.
Immaculata will now advance to face Cabrini University in the CSAC Championship match to be played tomorrow at 1:00 PM.
Neumann ends the year with an overall record of 5-6 on the season. The Knights will return six of seven players into next year and will look to build on a successful first year under head coach
Marjie Elliott.
