Men's Lacrosse Topples Giants

LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team found its way back into the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) win column on Saturday afternoon, picking up a much needed 20-5 win on the road at Keystone College.

The Knights received multi-point games from seven different players on the day, including a game high nine points from Chase Fraser. The senior attacker had a monster game, notching five goals and four assists to go along with a team leading 11 ground balls and three caused turnovers. Chris Augustine (3 goals, 1 assist), Chris Bellon (4 goals) and Adam Fagan (2 goals, 2 assists) all chipped in with four points apiece, while Tylar Schlimme (2 goals, 1 assist) and Sergio Plesati (1 goal, 2 assists) each added three points. Ryan Lee also scored twice for Neumann, who received eight saves combined between Brendan Risley and Antonio Gibson in goal.

Neumann opened the scoring through Fraser just under two minutes into the game to take an early 1-0 lead. The Giants would equalize at the 9:24 mark, but it would be all Knights for the remainder of the opening half of play. The Knights would dominate the remainder of the first frame, using an 11-0 run to take a commanding 12-1 lead heading into halftime. Fraser led the way in the half scoring four times, while Augustine and Fagan each added a pair of goals as well.

Keystone responded with two of the first three goals of the second half, but Neumann would answer with seven of next nine goals to win comfortably by a score of 20-5. Bellon was the key second-half performer for the Knights, scoring four times in the final period of play to help Neumann cruise to the victory.

Neumann (6-8, 3-3 CSAC) will close out its regular season schedule next Wednesday, April 26th when it travels to CSAC rival Immaculata University at 7:00 PM. The Knights will need a win to secure a berth in the CSAC playoffs, which begin next Saturday, April 29th.
