ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team was victorious in a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games on Sunday afternoon as it hosted Keystone College. The Knights won the first game 10-0 in five innings and game two 8-2.
Julia Cox's bat remained hot as she knocked in six runs, including hitting a grand slam, in game one.
Marisa Giordano had three RBI.
Jen Sieminski picked up the win in the circle as she went five innings, struck out seven and allowed just one hit.
Cox knocked in the first two runs of the game with a single in the first inning. She followed with a grand slam in the second inning. Giordano also knocked in a pair of runs in the second inning as the Knights jumped out to an 8-0 lead. Neumann added two more runs in the third inning for the 10-0 final.
In the second game, the Giants struck first with two runs in the top of the first inning. The Knights answered right back with a pair in the bottom of the first. Cox knocked in Giordano with a double and
Becky Guinto scored on a single by
Kate Korte'.
Neumann took a 4-2 lead as Cox hit a two-run double in the second inning.
Kendall Boardman hit a two-run double in the fifth inning for a 6-2 game. The Knights wrapped up the scoring as Guinto led off the sixth inning with a triple and scored on a single by Cox.
Cox finished game two with four RBI and three hits.
Taylor Sirolli pitched 7.0 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits and struck out five.
Neumann (22-10, 17-1 CSAC) is slated to host Albright tomorrow afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM.
