ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team traded wins with Albright College in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The Knights won the first game 8-0 and dropped the second game 8-2.
In game one, the Knights struck early and the first three Knights to the plate all scoring.
Autumn Passarello led off the home half of the first inning with a single.
Marisa Giordano walked for two runners on base.
Becky Guinto hit a two-run double and came around to score on a ground out by
Julia Cox.
Neumann took advantage of a pair of Albright errors in the third inning and scored three more runs.
Taylor Sirolli hit a two-run single. Sirolli followed with another two-run hit, this time a double, in the bottom of the fifth inning for the 8-0 final.
Jen Sieminski got her seventh win of the season, going 5.0 innings. She did not allow a run on five hits and struck out six.
In the second game, Neumann struck early again, scoring two runs in the first inning.
Brooke Figiel led off with a single. Guinto singled with one out and moved to second on an error for runners at second and third.
Jackie Schneider scored Figiel on a fielder's choice. Guinto scored on a double by Kate Korte.
That was all of the offense Neumann would see. The Lions cut the lead in half in the top of the second. Albright then scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings while adding three in the sixth inning for the 8-2 final.
Taylor Naman started the game and went 5.2 innings. She allowed eight runs, five earned, on 11 hits.
Michaela Pembleton finished the game, going 1.1 innings and striking out two.
Neumann (23-11) will head to Widener on Wednesday afternoon for the final non-conference doubleheader of the regular season. First pitch is slated for 4:00 PM.
