Women's Lacrosse Falls in CSAC Semifinals

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday evening, falling to Marywood University by a score of 20-4 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinals.

Kaitlyn Conrad led the way for the Knights on the day, registering three goals on the afternoon to finish the season with 60 goals on the year. Shae Risley also scored for the Knights, while goalies Gabby Curry and Becca Wallace combined for nine saves in goal.

The game got off to a rocky start for Neumann, as the Pacers scored the first five goals of the opening period of play to take a 5-0 lead in the game's first 14 minutes. Conrad would get a goal back for Neumann midway through the half to make it 5-1, but Marywood would again seize control of the game late in the first frame. The Pacers tacked on six more goals in the final ten minutes of the first half to take a commanding 11-1 lead into halftime.

The Knights looked to turn the game around early in the second stanza, as Risley scored on a free position attempt just 1:42 into the half to make it 11-2. Unfortunately for Neumann, the Pacers would rattle off five consecutive goals after that to put the game out of reach. Conrad found the back of the net twice late in the half to bring the Knights a bit closer, but Marywood would end up cruising to a comfortable 20-4 victory. With the win, the Pacers will now advance to face Cabrini University in the CSAC Championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Neumann finishes its season with a record of 10-9 on the year. The Knights will miss their four graduating seniors, but will look to a young core of players to help get the team back to the CSAC Championship game next year.
