SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship game with a 5-2 win over Cabrini University on Saturday afternoon.
Becky Guinto put the Knights on the board in the first inning with a solo homerun. The Cavaliers plated two runs in the top of the third for a 2-1 lead. Neumann answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. With one out,
Autumn Passarello singled and
Marisa Giordano reached on an error. Guinto followed with a walk to load the bases.
Jackie Schneider hit a two-run single to score Passarello and Giordano and take back the lead.
The Knights added a run in the fifth inning as Schneider and
Julia Cox hit back-to-back doubles. Passarello added an insurance run in the sixth innings as she scored on a wild pitch.
Jen Sieminski went the distance in the circle and stuck out seven in the win.
Neumann (27-13) will play in the CSAC Championship game tomorrow against either Immaculata or Cabrini. The Mighty Macs and Cavaliers will face each other in an elimination game this afternoon.
