ABINGTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team blanked Penn State Abington 3-0 on Friday afternoon in the season opener.
Danni Elman put the Knights on the board as she tapped in a pass from
Lindsey Padilla in the fourth minute. Neumann held the 1-0 lead at halftime.
Neumann scored an insurance run in the 78
th minute as
Brittany Stewart netted her first collegiate goal.
Taylor Garman served the ball on a corner kick to
Grace Stauffer who got the ball to Stewart who headed the ball into the back of the net.
Padilla put the Knights up 3-0 as she beat the Lions keeper one-on-one in the 86
th minute. Garman picked up her second assist of the game with the assist.
Kristen Montgomery made three saves in net en route to the shutout win.
Neumann (1-0) will host Goucher on Wednesday for the first home game of the season. The game is slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
