NORFOLK, Va. - The Neumann University field hockey team fell in non-conference action on the road at Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon.

Cheyenne Sovae-Beattie tallied the Knights goal on the afternoon.
Lizzie Yu and
Mary Miller combined for 11 saves in goal in the loss.

Virginia Wesleyan would control play in the opening half, outshooting the Knights by a count of 8-1. Despite the large advantage in shots though, the game remained scoreless at halftime thanks to excellent goalkeeping from Yu.

The Marlins finally broke through with two early second half goals to take a 2-0 lead at the 47:50 mark. Neumann answered back seven minutes later with Sovae-Beattie's first career goal to cut the lead to 2-1, but a Virginia Wesleyan goal in the 61st minute sealed the win for the Marlins.

Neumann (0-4) has a week off before it heads to St. Mary's College of Maryland next Saturday, September 23rd. Game-time is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
