BALTIMORE, Md. – The Neumann University men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup to 16
th ranked Johns Hopkins University by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday evening.
Billy Swontek led the way for Neumann with two shots in the contest.
Perry Corsetti and
Danny Lewis combined for nine saves in the loss.
The Blue Jays took control early in the match after converting a penalty kick only twelve minutes into play. Neumann struggled to find its footing after conceding the opening goal and found itself down 2-0 just four minutes later after Hopkins finished off a cross from the right flank. Things would only get worse from there for the Knights, as the Blue Jays capped off their solid first half performance with another tally in the 25
th minute.
The second half began with Hopkins killing off any hope of a Neumann rally just 36 seconds into the period as the Blue Jays found the back of the net for the fourth time. The Knights would battle throughout the second half, but a fifth Hopkins goal in the 72
nd minute capped off the win for the Blue Jays.
Neumann (2-4) will look to bounce back Saturday when it opens Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play versus Clarks Summit University, Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
