ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Centenary University 78-38 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. With the win, head coach
Frank Farnese picked up his 200
th win at Neumann.
Nafisa Saunders netted 22 points in the win.
Minika Glenn tallied a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Lauren Legler added 12 points.
Saunders opened the game with a jumper and the Knights never looked back. Halfway through the first quarter, Neumann jumped out to a 12-4 advantage. Both teams would go scoreless over the next two-and-a-half minutes. The Cyclones broke the scoreless drought and the teams traded points over the final three minutes. Glenn put Neumann up by 10, 19-9, with two free throws just before the end of the first quarter.
The Knights continued to build their lead throughout the second quarter and doubled the Cyclones score a few times as well, including 22-11, 26-13 and 34-17. Neumann took a 38-17 lead into halftime.
The second half was just as the first and the Knights continued to build their lead over the final 20 minutes. Neumann's largest lead came at the end with the 78-38 final.
Neumann (12-4, 7-0 CSAC) will head to Cabrini University on Wednesday for a conference doubleheader with the men. Action is slated to get underway at 6:00 PM.
