IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Immaculata University 79-51 on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Nafisa Saunders netted her 1,000
th career point as she scored 15 in the win.
Minika Glenn tallied 20 points in the win while
Lauren Legler added 16. Saunders rounded out three Knights in double-digits with 15 points.
The Knights held a 10-7 advantage after the first five minutes of the first quarter before going on a 16-4 run to end the half and take a 26-11 lead.
Midway through the second quarter, Saunders hit a layup and was fouled. As she connected on her free throw, she hit the 1,000 point mark of her career as a junior. The basket put the Knights up by 20, 37-17. Neumann held a 50-26 lead at the half.
Legler hit a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded at the end of the third quarter for a 70-40 lead. The Knights continued to hold their lead throughout the fourth quarter to come away with the 79-51 win.
Neumann (13-5, 8-1 CSAC) will return home on Saturday when it hosts Notre Dame of Maryland University in conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
