ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games with an 83-42 win over Clarks Summit University on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Kristen Denoncour led the Knights with a double-double, 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Lauren Legler hit a trio of three-pointers en route to 13 points.
Nafisa Saunders netted 12 and
Minika Glenn added 10.
Mariah Maciejewski grabbed 15 boards.
The teams battled in the first quarter and battled back and forth. The Defenders hit a basket with five seconds on the clock to take a 14-13 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Knights took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Defenders 31-8.
Shauntel Williams hit a three-pointer to open the quarter and put Neumann in the lead. The Knights scored the first 10 points of the quarter and never looked back. Neumann scored the final seven points of the half to double up the Defenders 44-22 at the break.
The Knights opened the third quarter on a 17-2 run for a 61- 24 advantage. Neumann continued to build its lead throughout the rest of the half to come away with the 83-42 win.
Neumann (9-4, 4-0 CSAC) will head on the road for the first away game of 2018 when it heads to Notre Dame of Maryland University for conference action on Tuesday evening. The game is slated to get underway at 7:00 PM.
