ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team went 4-2 in Atlantic East action and will be the No. 3 seed in the postseason.
The Knights will host No. 6 seeded Immaculata on Tuesday evening in first round action.
In the regular season meeting between the two teams, Neumann away with a three set win at Immaculata, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-12.
Melanie Malseed led the Knights with 11 kills, only two errors, on 25 attempts for a .360 hitting percentage. Malseed and
Hayley Glah each tallied 18 digs.
Carlee Herrin added 10 digs.
Alex Koppany handed out 16 assists while
Rachel Cray dished out 10.
Overall this season, the Knights are led by Malseed, who reached the 1,000 career kill and dig mark this season. The junior currently has 434 kills and 418 digs. Senior
Rachael Hoffman also reached 1,000 kills this season and has 251 this season. Freshmen
Bre Hickey has tallied 227 kills while
Ariana Pena has 218.
Junior
Hayley Glah is tied with Malseed with 418 digs.
Kirsten Longueira has 214 digs while
Carlee Herrin has added 212.
In the other first round match, No. 4 Wesley will host No. 5 Marywood. The winners on Tuesday will advance to the semifinals on Thursday against No. 1 seeded Cabrini and No. 2 seeded Marymount. The winners from the semifinals will meet for the Championship on Saturday at the highest seed remaining.
