GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team's quest for the Atlantic East Championship came to an end in the semifinals as it fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 7-0 on Wednesday evening.
The teams remained scoreless until the 27
th minute when the Griffins got onto the scoreboard. Gwynedd Mercy scored again just before halftime for a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Griffins tallied five goals in the second half, three coming off of penalty corners, en route to the 7-0 win.
Mary Miller started the game in net and made five saves in 50+ minutes.
Lizzie Yu made two saves in relief.
Neumann (9-8) will now wait for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament announcement on Monday to see if its season will continue.
