Women’s Volleyball Heads to Marymount for Atlantic East Semifinal Action

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team went 4-2 in Atlantic East action and will be the No. 3 seed in the postseason.
 
The Knights defeated No. 6 seeded Immaculata 3-0 in the first round by set scores of 25-22, 25-10 and 25-16.
 
Rachel Cray tallied her 2,000th career assist in the win, finishing with 15. Alex Koppany added 17 assists and five service aces. Bre Hickey had 11 kills in the win and Melanie Malseed added 10. Hayley Glah notched 17 digs and Malseed had 14.
 
Overall this season, the Knights are led by Malseed, who reached the 1,000 career kill and dig mark this season. The junior currently has 444 kills and 432 digs. Senior Rachael Hoffman also reached 1,000 kills this season and has 255 this season. Freshmen Bre Hickey has tallied 238 kills while Ariana Pena has 224.
 
Junior Hayley Glah has a team-high 435 digs. Kirsten Longueira has 220 digs while Carlee Herrin has added 213. Cray has handed out 561 assists. Koppany has added 532 digs.
 
In the other first round match, No. 5 Marywood defeated No. 4 Wesley, 3-1. Marywood will travel to No. 1 seeded Cabrini in the other semifinal match on Thursday. The winners from the semifinals will meet for the Championship on Saturday at the highest seed remaining.
