RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team's season came to an end in a 3-0 loss to Cabrini University in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) quarterfinal match-up on Saturday morning.
Melanie Malseed continued to lead the Knights, tallying 16 digs and 10 kills in the match.
Hayley Glah added 17 digs.
Alex Koppany handed out 15 assists while
Rachel Cray dished out 12.
Seniors
Rachael Hoffman and
Bridget Lozier notched eight and seven kills, respectively, to finish up their career.
The teams went point for point to start the match. With the scores tied at seven, the Cavaliers scored six of the next eight points to take a 13-9 advantage. The Knights battled back and tied the game at 16. Cabrini was able to get some distance, scoring six of the next eight points and went on to take the first set 25-20.
In the second set, once again the teams went back and forth. Tied at six, Neumann scored the next four points. The Knights held a slight advantage until the Cavaliers tied the game at 14. Again tied, this time at 19, Cabrini scored four of the next five points for a 23-20 lead. Neumann made the score 24-23 on kills by Lozier and
Bre Hickey, but could not get any closer.
Set three started no different than the first two sets. With the Cavaliers leading 16-15, they went on a run to wrap up the match, winning 25-17.
Neumann finishes the season 17-17.
