Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey Falls at Utica

UTICA, N.Y. - In a rematch of last season's United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) semifinal contest, the Neumann University men's ice hockey team fell by a score of 8-1 to host Utica College on Saturday evening.

Cullen Chin was the lone goal-scorer on the evening for the Knights, while Sammy Bernard and Mike Cosentino split time in goal combining to make 36 saves.

The Knights earned the first power play of the contest midway through the first frame, but it would be Utica who'd capitalize down a man. The Pioneers scored shorthanded at the 9:52 mark to take an early 1-0 lead. Despite the early goal against, Neumann bounced back right away, as Chin scored off assists from Brendan Rosario and Connor Annett on the same power-play to level the contest at one apiece. It would be the only bright spot of the period though, as Utica closed out the first with two unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead to the dressing room.

The game would start to slip away from the Knights in the second stanza. The Pioneers tallied the only three goals of the period and Neumann found itself down by five heading to the third.

The hosts continued their solid play late in the game, tacking on two more goals to finish the scoring at 8-1. Shots for the game finished 44-26 in favor of Utica.

Neumann (0-3-1, 0-1-1 UCHC) returns home next weekend for another UCHC matchup with Elmira College on Friday, November 9th. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
