ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team continued its winning ways with an 81-54 win at Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Nafisa Saunders led the way for the Knights with 23 points.
Minika Glenn added 21 points and
Mariah Maciejewski tallied 10. Ten Knights scored at least two point in the win.
The first quarter saw four knotted scores. With the teams tied at 14, the Knights ended the half with a 5-1 run to take a 19-15 lead.
Neumann used the second quarter to build its lead, and with 1:13 left before halftime, notched an 11 point advantage, 39-27, on a layup by
Shauntel Williams. The Falcons ended the half with two free throws, but the Knights took a 40-32 lead into the break.
Glenn opened the second half with a jumper to give the Knights back a double-digit lead and this time they would not relinquish it. With 3:37 left in the third quarter, Neumann increased its lead up to 20, 62-42, and would take a 20 point advantage, 68-48, into the final quarter.
The Knights continued to build its lead throughout the fourth quarter to come away with the 81-54 win.
Neumann (17-6, 12-2 CSAC) will return home for the final regular season game on Wednesday when it hosts Gwynedd Mercy. Action is slated to get underway at 6:00 PM, followed by the men at 8:00 PM.
