Men’s Basketball to Face Gwynedd Mercy in CSAC Semifinal

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team, the No. 3 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) postseason, will head to No. 2 seeded Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday evening for a semifinal contest.
 
The Knights defeated Keystone 78-65 on Monday in a first round match-up. Tyaire Hudson scored a game-high 26 points in the win as five Knights netted double-digits. Raquan Brown-Johnson netted 17 points while Billy Cassidy added 11 and dished out five assists. Aaron Johnson-Chavis tallied a double-double with 15 rebounds and 10 points while adding six blocks. Isaiah Wilmore also scored 10 points.
 
During the regular season, the Griffins won both games. Away from the Mirenda Center, Gwynedd Mercy won 79-68 in the beginning of January. Brown-Johnson led four Knights in double-digits with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Hudson and Cassidy each netted 13 points. Johnson-Chavis tallied 10 points and 10 boards while adding three block.
 
Back home, the Griffins handed the Knights their only loss at the Mirenda Center, 81-79. Brown-Johnson netted 25 points to lead Neumann, including four three-pointers. Johnson-Chavis notched a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds. The freshman also added three blocks. Hudson also tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.
 
For the season, Hudson is leading the team with 17.2 points per game. CSAC Defensive Player and Rookie of the Year Johnson-Chavis is adding 14.5 points and 10.1 rebounds. The freshman has tallied a team-high 74 blocks. Brown-Johnson is averaging 14.1 points while Cassidy is adding 12.7. Cassidy leads the team in three-pointers, connecting on 88 during the regular season.
 
In the other first round match-up, No. 4 Rosemont defeated No. 5 Marywood 97-58. Rosemont will face No. 1 Cabrini in the other semifinal contest. The winners of the games on Wednesday will face-off for the CSAC Championship on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
