RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell at Cabrini University 89-76 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship game on Saturday evening.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis tallied a double-double with 16 points and 20 rebounds.
Billy Cassidy hit four three-pointers en route to 16 points and also handed out five assists.
Raquan Brown-Johnson also notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Tyaire Hudson added 13 points.
Each team took runs during the game, but Cabrini took the last one to win the game and the CSAC Championship.
Early on in the game, the Knights built a six point led, 12-6. The Cavaliers answered by scoring the next nine points for a 15-12 advantage. Midway through the half, Cabrini capped a 12-4 run for a 27-16 lead. Neumann made the next run and with 4:16 on the clock had chipped its way back within four, 31-27. The Knights got to within three when the Cavaliers took their next run and scored the eight straight points. Hudson rounded out the scoring for the half by netting the next four points. Cabrini went into halftime with a 42-36 lead.
Coming out of halftime, the Cavaliers hit two three pointers to double their lead and a 48-36 score.
Jordan Collins scored the first basket of the half for the Knights two minutes in. After another three-pointer by Cabrini, Neumann started on its next run. With 12:32 on the clock, the Knights made their way back to within two, 54-52. The Cavaliers answered with a run and built up a 70-55 advantage just past the midway point of the half. Neumann was not able to respond with another run and Cabrini held onto the double-digit lead for the rest of the game.
Neumann (20-8) will now wait for the ECAC announcement to be made on Monday to see if its season will continue.
