BALTIMORE, Md. – The Neumann University women's tennis team opened its season by dropping a 6-3 result at Notre Dame University of Maryland in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights began the match with a strong showing in doubles, taking two of the three contests.
Emily Custer and
Mia Cimino teamed up to win at second-doubles by a count of 8-3, while
Maddy Varney and
MiKayla Radisch picked up a win at third-doubles by a score of 8-6.
Unfortunately for Neumann, the team could not carry its momentum into singles-play. The Knights fell in five of the six singles contests, with the lone winner being
Ashley Francis at sixth singles (6-1, 6-2).
Neumann (0-1, 0-1 CSAC) will return to the court on Thursday, March 15
th when the team heads to Immaculata University. The contest is scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM.
