ASTON, Pa. – On a cold and wet Monday afternoon, the Neumann University men's tennis team opened its 2018 season, falling by a score of 5-0 in a rain-shortened non-conference matchup versus Moravian College.
The doubles portion of the match was not friendly to the Knights, as the hosts fell in all three contests.
Rod Bradbury and
Daniel Rival fell 8-1 at first doubles,
Jordan Collins and
Billy Swontek lost 8-3 in second doubles, and
Perry Corsetti and
Jake McDevitt dropped an 8-2 result at third doubles
As the two teams moved to singles competition, the Greyhounds continued their strong play. In the first match to finish, Bradbury was defeated at second singles before Rival fell in a hard fought match at first singles by a score of 9-8 (7-5) in a tie-breaker. With rain becoming an issue and the match already clinched in favor of Moravian, the remainder of the contests went unfinished.
Neumann (0-1) will head to Eastern on next Monday for non-conference action beginning at 3:30 PM.
