WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team edged Juniata College 65-58 in a quarterfinal game of the ECAC Tournament on Friday morning.
Tyaire Hudson led the Knights with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Raquan Brown-Johnson tallied 18 points.
Billy Cassidy added 14.
Aaron Johnson-Chavis notched four blocks.
After trading baskets to start the game, the Knights held the lead for most of the first half. Neumann's largest lead of the first half was eight, 22-14, five minutes before the break. The Eagles ended the half on a 9-2 run for a 24-23 Neumann lead at the half.
Juniata opened the second half on an 11-4 run to take a 34-28 lead. Neumann then started its own run and took a 41-36 lead midway through the half. The teams would take minis runs, but the Knights would hold the advantage throughout the rest of regulation. A layup by Hudson with under a minute left gave Neumann an eight point lead. The Knights went 5-for-6 from the line in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win.
Neumann (22-8) will face Medaille College tomorrow afternoon in an ECAC Semifinal contest. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 PM.
