Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Falls Late at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Neumann University men's lacrosse team fell in non-conference action on the road at Moravian College by a score of 9-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Brendan Risley did his best to keep the Knights in the game, stopping 15 saves in goal in the loss. Chris Augustine picked up a pair of goals, while Colin Blake, Eric Conlon and Ryan McNichol all chipped in with a goal and an assist.

After Wednesday's home game versus Bard was postponed due to weather, the Knights were eager to get back to the field and showed it in the opening half of play. Neumann scored just 1:28 after the first whistle to take a 1-0 lead as Bo Olshefsky found the back of the net off a feed from Conlon. Moravian answered back to knot the game up 1-1 at the 9:36 mark, but McNichol responded with the Knights second goal under a minute later to get Neumann back in front. The back and forth game continued late in the quarter, as the Greyhounds again found an equalizer to send the game to the second stanza tied at two apiece.

The second quarter would be all Neumann. The Knights scored three times on tallies from Blake, Conlon and Augustine, while the Neumann defense shut-out the Greyhound attack for the entire 15 minute frame. Augustine's goal came with just two seconds left in the half and gave the Knights momentum headed into halftime.

Unfortunately for Neumann, the late first half momentum would not last into the third quarter. Moravian came out strong to start the second half, out-scoring the Knights by a count of 4-1 in the quarter to level the score at 6-6.

As the game headed into the fourth and final quarter, Moravian wasted no time finding its first lead. The Greyhounds scored just 25 seconds into the frame to jump in front by a count of 7-6. The Knights fought valiantly to get back into the game, but two more late insurance markers for Moravian sealed a victory for the hosts.

Neumann (1-6) will have a few days to rest before returning to the field on Tuesday, March 27th for a non-conference matchup at Misericordia University. Game-time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
