CAMDEN, N.J. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team picked up its second win in as many days and fifth straight overall with a 15-2 victory in non-conference action over Rutgers Camden on Thursday afternoon.
Kaitlyn Conrad kept her torrid scoring pace going in the win, registering six goals and three assists for nine points.
Brittany Cassidy tallied four goals, while
Courtney Petrucelli and Kari Mallon each scored twice.
Gabby Curry was outstanding in goal, allowing only two goals on the day while making 20 saves.
Much like yesterday's win over Keystone, Neumann used a strong first half to set the tone for the game. The Knights scored eight first half goals and held the Scarlet Raptors to just one tally to take a commanding 8-1 lead into halftime. The Knights received a first half hat trick from Cassidy, two goals apiece from Conrad and Petrucelli and a single tally from Mallon.
The second half continued much like the first, with Neumann expanding its lead even further in the opening minutes of the frame. The Knights scored the half's first seven goals to extend their lead to 15-1 with 9:11 left to play. Rutgers Camden scored a late consolation goal, but Neumann cruised the rest of the way, taking home its fifth straight win by a score of 15-2.
Neumann (7-4, 3-0 CSAC) will put its five-game winning streak on the line next Wednesday, April 4
th when the team heads to Cabrini University for a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) showdown. Game-time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
