ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team blanked Centenary University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader on Friday afternoon. The Knights won by scores of 7-0 and 8-0 in five innings.
 
In the first game, Jackie Selby and Kara Grogan each reached base without a hit to start the bottom of the first. With two outs, Julia Cox walked and the Knights had the bases loaded. Kate Korte' had the first hit for the Knights, a two-run single. Taylor Sirolli hit an RBI double and Neumann held a 3-0 lead after one inning.
 
The Knights added two more runs in the second inning. Jackie Schneider had an RBI double in the inning. Sirolli scored two more times, once in the third and once in the fifth, en route to the 7-0 final.
 
Jen Sieminski pitched the two-hit shutout and struck out eight for the win. Kristina Del Gaiso had three hits in the game. Korte' had two hits and two RBI. Cox had two knocks. Grogan and Sirolli each had two hits and scored twice.
 
In the second game, Neumann got on the board with two unearned runs in the bottom of the second inning as Bri Lagroteria hit a two-run single. In the third inning, Sirolli, Schneider and Cox opened with back-to-back-to-back doubles as the Knights scored three runs.
 
Neumann added three more runs in the fourth inning to take the 8-0 lead. Taylor Naman got the win, going 5.0 innings and allowing seven hits. The Cyclones had three two-out hits in the top of the fifth inning, but Naman got the last batter to strike out looking to end the game.
 
Cox and Korte' each had two hits in the game. Sirolli scored another two runs.
 
Neumann (13-8, 9-1 CSAC) will head to Gwynedd Mercy tomorrow for more CSAC action. The doubleheader gets underway at 1:00 PM.
