RADNOR, Pa. - In a battle between two of the top tennis teams in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, the Neumann University men's tennis team fell to Cabrini University by a score of 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Things did not start well for the Knights on the day, as Cabrini came out strong in doubles play. The Cavaliers swept all three doubles matches in convincing fashion to take an early 3-0 lead into singles play.
Neumann was much more competitive in its singles matches, but the visitors were only able to take two of the six contests.
Jordan Collins won at third singles after his opponent was forced to retire, while
Billy Swontek won a hard fought match at sixth singles in a tie-breaker (6-4, 1-6, 10-8).
Neumann (7-3, 5-2) will now have two weeks to prepare for the CSAC Championships that begin on Saturday, April 28th at the Legacy Youth Tennis Center. The Knights will be seeded third and face-off versus second seeded Clarks Summit University in the CSAC semifinals.
