Softball Blanks Defenders in CSAC Doubleheader

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team took a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contests from Clarks Summit University on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 15-0 and 19-0, both in five innings.
 
In game one, Jackie Schneider put the Knights on the board in the first inning with a three-run homerun. Neumann then plated nine runs in the third inning, including a two-run triple by Kristina Del Gaiso. Jackie Selby added a two-run double in the fourth inning and then scored on an error to cap the scoring.
 
Jen Sieminski picked up the win, going 3.0 innings, allowing two hits and striking out six. Julia Casson went the final two innings and allowed one hit and struck out two.
 
The Knights' bats stayed hot in the second game as Brooke Figiel opened the bottom half of the first inning with a triple. In the second inning, Kate Korte' hit a three-run homerun, Figiel hit a two-run single and Rachel Albertson hit a two-run double en route to 12 runs in the frame.
 
In the third inning, Zina Naughton knocked in two runs with a single as Neumann plated five more runs.
 
Taylor Naman went 5.0 innings and allowed just two hits and struck out five for the win.
 
Neumann (17-12, 13-3 CSAC) will try again to host Rosemont on Monday afternoon as Mother Nature has not been kind on the previous dates. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
