Softball Hangs on for Sweep of Ravens

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team opened the week by taking two Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contests from Rosemont College on Monday afternoon. The Knights won by scores of 12-0 and 7-4.
 
In the first game, Jen Sieminski pitched a two-hit shutout in the 12-0, five inning win. In her 5.0 innings, she allowed the two hits, one walk and struck out seven. Kierstin Fallers went 3-for-4 and knocked in four runs. Taylor Sirolli went 2-for-2, knocked in three runs and scored two.
 
The Knights opened the scoring in the first inning as Bri Lagroteria singled and scored on a double by Fallers.
 
In the second inning, Fallers knocked in another two runs as the Knights plated four. After scoring another run in the third inning for a 6-0 lead, Neumann doubled its score with six runs in the fourth inning. Sirolli hit a bases-clearing double in the inning.
 
In game two, the Ravens jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings. The Knights started their comeback in the fourth inning. Kate Korte' opened the inning with a double, followed by a single by Jackie Selby. Autumn Passarello doubled to score Korte'. Kristina Del Gaiso walked to load the bases. Zina Naughton hit a bases-clearing double and then scored on a double by Fallers for a five-run inning.
 
The Knights added two unearned runs in the fifth for a 7-3 lead. The Ravens scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh and left the bases loaded as Neumann held on for the 7-4 win.
 
Taylor Naman picked up the win, going 4.0 innings. She allowed three runs on three hits. Sirolli got the save, going three innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits.
 
Neumann (19-12, 15-2 CSAC) is slated to host Widener on Wednesday in the final non-conference doubleheader of the regular season. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
