ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team picked up its second consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) win on Friday afternoon, taking down rival Immaculata University by a score of 8-1.
Neumann opened the contest on fire, notching wins at all three matches in doubles competition to take an early 3-0 lead.
Jordan Collins and
Rod Bradbury squeaked out a 9-8 (7-4) win at first doubles,
Evan King and
Billy Swontek were victorious at second doubles by a score of 8-5, and
Jake McDevitt and
Perry Corsetti cruised to a comfortable 8-1 win at third doubles.
As the match moved to singles play, the Knights continued to roll. Neumann took home wins in five of the six matches to take home the 8-1 win. Collins won at first singles (6-4, 6-1), King was victorious at third singles (6-1, 6-1), Swontek took home a win at fourth singles (8-2),
Christian Cortese dominated at fifth singles ( 6-1, 6-3) and McDevitt rounded things out with a win at sixth singles (7-5, 6-0).
Neumann (3-2, 2-1 CSAC) returns to the court tomorrow afternoon for a matchup with CSAC foe Rosemont College. The match is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
