ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team blanked Penn State Abington 3-0 on a rainy season opener on Friday evening.
Freshman
Kaitlin Thomas scored her first two collegiate goals in the win, including the first and game-winning goal just two minutes into the game.
Jess Cirone tallied the assist on the first goal.
Danni Elman found the back of the net just before the 20
th minute and the Knights held a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Thomas scored her second goal of the game in the 68
th minute to seal the win.
Anna Attardi made the start in net and made two saves for the shutout win. The Knights outshot the Nittany Lions 15-3, led by Elman with five and Thomas with four.
Neumann (1-0) will host Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action beginning at 2:00 PM.
