CAMDEN, N.J. - The Neumann University women's soccer team fell in non-conference action on a rainy Monday evening at Rutgers University-Camden by a score of 4-1.
Danni Elman scored her fourth goal of the season for the Knights in the loss, while
Anna Attardi made two saves in goal.
Coming off a convincing 5-0 win on Saturday afternoon, the Knights continued their strong play early in Monday's contest. After being awarded a corner kick in the first minute of play,
Megan Briggs served an excellent ball into the box that was headed home by Elman at the 1:09 mark to give Neumann an early 1-0 lead. The game looked to be heading to halftime with the same score-line, but a Rutgers Camden goal with just under five minutes left to play in the first frame sent the game to the break knotted at one apiece.
Using the late first half momentum to their advantage, the Scarlet Raptors broke the 1-1 deadlock early in the second stanza. The hosts scored three times in a ten minute span to take a commanding 4-1 lead that they would not relinquish. The Knights recorded a pair of shots late in the game as they tried to answer back, but the visitors could not find the back of the net again as the contest finished 4-1.
Neumann (2-3) returns home for another non-conference game versus Centenary University on Saturday, September 15th. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
