ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team doubled up the College of Staten Island 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Morgan Ryan and
Carissa Britton each netted a goal for the Knights.
Anna Attardi made six saves in net.
To open the scoring, the Knights had three shots in a row in the 16
th minute. The first shot was saved, the second blocked, before Ryan put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 Neumann lead. The Knights took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Britton scored just over five minutes into the second half to double Neumann's lead to 2-0 with a shot from 35 yards out. The ball sailed over the goalkeeper into the back of the net. The Dolphins cut the lead in half in the 81
st minute, but the Neumann shutout Staten Island the rest of the way for the 2-1 win.
The Knights outshot the Dolphins 14-9 overall and 10-7 on goal.
Neumann (5-5) will travel Marymount University on Wednesday to open Atlantic East Conference play. Action gets underway at 4:00 PM.
