ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start and fell to Cabrini University 89-68 on Saturday afternoon in the Atlantic East Conference Game of the Week.
Nafisa Saunders netted 34 points to lead the Knights.
Mariah Maciejewski tallied 12 points.
The Cavaliers came out and scored the first seven points of the contest. The Knights pulled to within three points a few times. With Cabrini holding a 14-11 edge midway through the quarter, the Cavaliers ended the first 10 minutes on a 14-4 run for a 28-15 lead at the first break.
The teams traded baskets and kept pace with one another throughout the second and third quarters. The Cavaliers had a 48-37 lead at the half and 64-55 lead after the third quarter.
Cabrini scored the first 10 points of the fourth and final quarter to build a 74-55 lead and cruised to the 89-68 final.
Neumann (9-8, 2-3 Atlantic East) will host Wesley on Wednesday in an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader with the men. The women will tip-off at 6:00 PM.
