ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Wesley College 62-46 on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Conference contest.
Nafisa Saunders led the Knights with 22 points and 14 rebounds for another double-double. She was a perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line.
Chelsea Keebler hit three three-pointers for nine points.
Mariah Maciejewski followed in both with eight points and nine rebounds and
Aijea Fowler netted eight points.
Lauren Leicht dished out six assists.
Neumann took the lead early into the game as it scored the first nine points of the game. Two free-throws by Saunders gave the Knights a 21-9 lead after the first quarter. Neumann continued to increase its lead in the second quarter and took a 38-20 lead into halftime.
The third quarter was no different and the Knights held a 57-32 lead heading into the final quarter. The Wolverines began to cut into the Knights' lead in the fourth quarter but Neumann used the lead built over the first three quarters to come away with the conference win.
Neumann (10-8, 3-3 Atlantic East) will head to Marymount on Saturday to begin the second part of the conference slate. Action is schedule to get underway at 1:00 PM.
