Knights Pick Up First Atlantic East Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team picked up its first Atlantic East Conference win on Wednesday evening in an exciting 84-81 game against Immaculata University.
 
Prior to the game, the Knights honored its first of two seniors, Jordan Collins. Collins hit four three-pointers in the game and finished with 18 points.
 
Waheem Lowman tallied 22 points, including five from beyond the arc. Mark Perry netted 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Isaiah Wilmore scored 11 points and Malike Tyndale added 10 points. Each team netted 13 threes in the contest.
 
The Knights started the game by scoring 12 of the first 14 points. The Mighty Macs answered with the next 10 points for a 12-all game. Tyndale hit a three pointer before Immaculata went on an 11-2 run for a 23-17 score. Neumann came back and tied the game at 25 with 7:04 on the clock. The Mighty Macs went on another run and scored the next 11 points. Two free throws by Collins broke the run, but Immaculata hit a three to answer and take its biggest lead of the half, 39-27. The Knights ended the half with an 11-5 run for a 44-38 score at the half.
 
A Collins three-pointer and a layup by Raquan Brown-Johnson to open the second half pulled Neumann to within one.  A layup by Collins with 15:12 on the clock gave the Knights a 53-52 lead. The teams went back and forth over the next nine minutes and with 6:39 remaining in regulation, the teams were knotted at 67.
 
The Knight built up lead and led 79-71 with just under three minutes remaining. The Mighty Macs hit back-to-back threes to pull within two with 2:12 on the clock. The teams had a tied game for the seventh time with 1:26 remaining, this time at 81. Two free throws by Perry put Neumann up by two with 49 seconds left. After two missed shots by the Mighty Macs, Wilmore went 1-for-2 from the line for a three point advantage with four ticks on the clock. Immaculata got a three-pointer off at the buzzer, but it did not go and Neumann came away with its first Atlantic East Conference win.
 
Neumann (10-11, 1-7 Atlantic East) will head to Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday for an Atlantic East doubleheader. The men are slated to tip-off at 3:00 PM.
