ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's soccer team got back into the win column with a 5-2 win over Keystone College on Tuesday evening.
Emily Cooper opened the scoring with a goal outside the 18 in the 11th minute of the match. In the 27th minute,
Jess Cirone tallied Neumann's second goal and less than 10 minutes later,
Anna Attardi netted a penalty shot giving the Knights the 3-0 lead. Keystone was able to get its first goal on the board in the 43rd minute to take the game into a 3-1 halftime.
Less than three minutes into the second half,
Kaitlin Thomas put one in the back of the net off a feed from
Danni Elman. In the 55th minute, Thomas tallied her second goal of the night to put Neumann up 5-1. The Giants wrapped up the scoring with their second goal in the 57th minute on a free kick outside the 18.
The Knights outshot the Giants 29-5 overall and 18-5 on net. Elman led Neumann with seven shots while Thomas added five.
Payton Clements made three saves in net.
Neumann (4-6-1) will prepare to open up Atlantic East Conference play against Cabrini University on Wednesday evening. Action is set to start at 7:00 PM under the lights.
