Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Shocked by Pacers in Double Overtime

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's soccer team fell in Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 1-0 setback to Marywood University.

Gavin Ford and Brady Simon each had three shots in the game, while Seth Walker took the loss in goal.

After opening conference play with a victory at Cabrini on Wednesday evening, Neumann looked to continue its winning ways on Saturday during Homecoming. The Knights dominated in possession all game long, but could not turn that into goals. Despite a 7-1 shot advantage in the first frame, the game remained scoreless at halftime.

Neumann continued to outplay the Pacers in the second stanza to the tune of a 7-2 edge in shots, but again the Knights could not find the back of the net. Gavin Ford nearly broke through for the Knights, but two excellent shots from the sophomore were saved as the game headed to overtime knotted at 0-0.

The hosts again outshot Marywood in the first extra session by a count of 3-0, but Neumann could not put a ball past the Pacer goalkeeper. As the game moved to the second overtime period, a broken play led to the only goal of the game. After a turnover at midfield, Marywood found its way in behind the Neumann back line and on only its fourth shot of the game and first on goal, the Pacers were able to shock the Knights for the win. Neumann held a 17-4 edge in shots in the loss.

Neumann (3-8-1, 1-1 Atlantic East) will aim to get back into the win column next Wednesday when it heads to Marymount University for another Atlantic East matchup. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
